I listen to often this album on tape, it's always a great journey in Middle-Earth. The melodies are captivating and worked, perfectly played for a beautiful fantasy adventure.
Favorite track: An Old Grey Man, Bent and Troubled.
Baba Mithrandir
The impact this particular release has had on me is ineffably, profoundly huge. This was one of my first introductions to the wonderful world of Dungeon Synth (along with Chaucerian Myth), and oh the memories...!
Favorite track: Full of Tunnels Stuffed with Treasure.

My introduction to dungeon-synth, and upon finding that trove of treasure, few have come close to finding the same warm spot in my heart as this album.
Favorite track: His Cloaked Figure Quickly Vanished into the Twilight.

If Hole Dweller is the return home, and Warm Smial garden tones are the peace in the shire, it is Ithildin who captures the wonder of an arriving wizard, and the fear of setting out into the unknown from a comfortable place. Of all the hobbit flavoured artists, this one captures the quiet strength of ordinary ones doing extraordinary things.
Track 5 stays with me.
Favorite track: There Were Green Trees with Trunks of Dark Smoke.

the melodies and craftsmanship that lies at the foundation of this record is undeniable. Invoking both humble production and elaborate soundscapes, Ithildin (Mithril that only the most experienced craftsmen of the Noldor could learn how to make and pass on to others) weaves arcane sorcery to create an enriching record that may look ordinary from first glance but is steeped in decades, if not centuries, of quality.
Favorite track: Full of Tunnels Stuffed with Treasure.
"These are dreamy compositions that are persuasive of a tranquil journey through realms of fantasy and enlightenment. Ithildin soars beyond the illusion of traditional forest synth anthems with the ethos of Medieval visions and haunting musical refrain. This is the celestial quest we’ve all been waiting to hear." -VotA
"A standout here is “There Were Green Trees with Trunks of Dark Smoke,” the title of which was taken from Tolkien’s description of Gandalf’s fireworks, and like that celebratory display, this track (not to mention the album as a whole) is filled with beauty and wonder." -Bandcamp Daily
"Ithildin [...] is the namesake for another jewel of musical magic. And since the political and social developments, especially due to the pandemic, encourage mental escape to magical places, I like to follow Guillaume P. Trépanier on his way to classic places in Middle-earth. [...] I warmly recommend Ithildin's debut to all of them, because it rarely happens in this genre that an album carries me away along its entire length and its individual parts stand just as enchantingly on their own. No failures, just wonderful music." -Medienkonverter
"one of the most intriguing and unexpected dungeon synth records of 2021. With both traditional bedroom fantasy ambient that occasionally lapses into surreal experimentation, A Long Expected Party is a model for the unassuming artist who releases their work without much fanfare or even promotion." -Invisible Oranges
"This hauntological journey in Middle Earth by Mr. Guillaume P. Trépanier has enough intrigues in itself to hold your attention through its short span." -The Attic
Frostgard might be the most accurate rendition of what I feel when reading The Silmarillion or Tolkien in general. Beautiful, soft, soothing and noble. Ithildin
I must admit I'm kinda jealous of musician that can carry so much feeling while being so quiet, calm and minimalist. This is great music and you should take a break of life and carefully listen to it Ithildin

I met Fogweaver through Vedurnan and, later, Magelight. This more energetic take on their music is wonderful and exciting, a compelling twist bearing their unique signature. emanuele127
