Ithildin's music is steeped in Tolkien lore but never lets the cemented ideas of fantasy worlds become an encumbrance to pushing the edge of genre and style in musical storytelling. Here we can see the pratfalling, lazy, and pleasure seeking hobbits that Gandalf did not invite to adventure. There is much fun and laughter in these tone poems but atonality gives a sinister underpinning that perhaps critiques the complacency and xenophobia of Hobbit culture. Amusettes pour Hobbits is the soundtrack of a short silent film depicting the Shire in eight bucolic scenes. Reels were destroyed long ago due to too long exposure to pipeweed, but audio tapes were saved and have been preserved with upmost care at the Mathom-house of Michel Delving. This small collection of musical snippets from the film is the last object remaining from an important piece of this small, landlocked country of Eriador’s countryside.

Conservées précieusement à la Maison des Mathoms de Michel Delving, les bandes musicales du film sont les derniers objets témoignant de ce morceau important du folklore de ce petit pays enclavé dans l'Eriador.
